Statement re: Preliminary Injunction to Stop Collection of HB 6 Nuclear Bailout Fees by Franklin County Court of Common Pleas

For Immediate Release: December 21, 2020

"Today, a court of law recognized that HB 6 is rooted in corruption and has taken an important first step to prevent one part of the harm to Ohio consumers. More work remains to prevent additional harm to come from 'decoupling' costs and the dismantling of energy efficiency programs which save Ohio ratepayers $2.65 for every $1 invested and should be restored. Now is the time for the Ohio legislature to complete the job and repeal HB 6.

“Today, a court of law recognized that HB 6 is rooted in corruption…”

"We applaud the cities of Columbus and Cincinnati and their legal counsel, Edelson PC, for initiating this action to protect consumers in their cities and across the state. We also thank Ohio Attorney General David Yost for his work to prevent this harm to electric utility customers. Finally, we thank the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas for recognizing that irreparable injury to Ohioans was imminent and taking action to prevent it."

“…and has taken an important first step to prevent one part of the harm to Ohio consumers.”
